Making the decision to work children on a daily basis will prove to be an exciting and rewarding experience. We want the process of applying with our agency to be as comprehensive as possible. Our procedure is as follows:
  • Call our agency to set up an appointment for an interview and make sure to get good directions from a member of our staff.
  • Before your interview, you'll want to begin compiling information that will build your resume. These items include personal and childcare letters of recommendation, pictures of children that you've worked with, and phone numbers of references

  • On the day of your interview please bring your photo I.D., Social Security Card or Visa, and any CPR or First-Aid Certifications that you may have.
  • Upon arriving to our office, you will be filling out an application, followed by the interview. Please be aware that your application will be seen by all the family that you interview with.
  • After being accepted as a nanny with the Nanny Exchange, you'll begin to receive phone calls concerning families that might be suited to your needs. Please feel free to contact our office to ask about newly opened positions.
  • Families will begin to contact you to set up interview. Please return phone calls as promptly as possible and set up interview so that you can show up 10-15 minutes early. Remember, being on-time makes a great first impression. Also thoroughly read our page on Nanny Tips for Interviewing before going to your appointment. 
  • It is important to call the Nanny Exchange after each of your interviews to inform us of how your interview went and which families you are interested in pursuing.
  • After finding a family that wants to hire you, you are entitled to doing one trial-day with the family. After that day, they must decide whether to hire you or not; however, under no circumstances can you do an additional trial day with the same family. 
  • After you've been hired by a family, you need to make sure to sit down with the family and fill out the Nanny/Family Agreement. This is your chance to ask all the important questions that will determine your day-to-day responsibilities. Make sure to be clear and concise about vacation days, daily duties, concerns, etc.
  • In order for to being working with your family they must have paid their referral fee. Be sure to call the Nanny Exchange to make sure that all loose ends have been taken care of.
